How booking works

Pick the bike, ask the shop, pay the shop.

  1. Look at a shop's actual bikes

A shop's page carries its own fleet: the model, the colour, the gearbox, the condition it is in, and what that shop charges by the day, the week and the month.

  2. Send your request to the shop

The request goes to that shop and the shop answers it. Nobody sits in the middle of the conversation, and nothing is added to the price for making the introduction.

  3. Collect the bike from the photos

A listing is tied to one licence plate. The scooter you looked at is the scooter waiting at the counter, and the rate you saw is the rate you pay.

No middleman and no commission on rentals.

Shops pay Rodaku a monthly fee for each live bike.

Five rules you can hold us to

Scooter rental in Bali mostly runs on trust and a handshake. These five are built into the product, so you can check that we kept them.

The shop's price is the whole price

You pay the shop, the way that shop takes payment. Shops pay Rodaku a monthly fee for each live bike, so there is no commission riding on your rental and no booking fee waiting at checkout.

One listing, one licence plate

Every listing is locked to a single plate. If the photos show a red Scoopy with a scuffed left fairing, that is the bike you collect. A shop cannot list one scooter and hand over another.

Rodaku never holds a deposit

Rodaku never takes or holds a deposit, and adds none of its own. If a shop asks for one, that is between you and the shop. A shop that has declared its deposit (none, cash or a card hold) shows it on its page.

ID photos taken through Rodaku have a delete date

If your shop starts an ID capture, you take the photos on your own phone and Rodaku keeps them, each sealed under its own key. Once you send them, your shop gets no copy through Rodaku and cannot see them. They are deleted on a date printed on your booking page, normally 3 days after the rental ends, or later if the shop records a late return or an extension, or asks Rodaku to keep them. If the police, a court or another authority asks for a copy, Rodaku can provide it to that authority: a person at Rodaku who is signed in with a second check opens the photos, must note a reference, and each time a copy is opened it is logged. A photo a shop takes on its own phone is outside Rodaku.

Which services, and why

Some of it is handled, and some kept, outside Indonesia by services we name: WhatsApp messages pass through Meta, photos a shop takes of its bikes and documents are read by Google in Singapore, a shop's map pin is turned into an address by Google, every page, form and upload passes through Cloudflare's network and our team's error alerts go to Discord. Each one, and why, is listed in our privacy notice.

Before you book

How does renting a scooter with Rodaku work?
Rodaku lists rental shops in Bali and the scooters they own. You pick a bike, send a booking request to that shop, and the shop confirms it and hands over the exact plated bike you reserved. You deal with the shop and you pay the shop. Rodaku is never a party to the rental itself.
Does Rodaku charge commission or a booking fee?
No. Rodaku takes no commission on a rental and charges travellers no booking fee. Shops pay a monthly fee for each live bike instead, which is why the rate written on a shop's page is that shop's own rate, with nothing added on top of it.
What happens if a shop photographs my ID?
If your shop starts an ID capture, you take the photos yourself, on your own phone. Rodaku keeps them, each sealed under its own key. Once you send them, your shop gets no copy through Rodaku and cannot see them. They are deleted on a date printed on your booking page, normally 3 days after the rental ends. The date moves later if the shop records a late return or an extension, and falls at most 30 days after the latest end date your booking has had. Once the shop has recorded the return, you can ask for them to be deleted sooner. A shop can ask Rodaku to keep them longer, with a stated reason: they are kept at once while Rodaku looks, Rodaku decides, and your page tells you for as long as your link works. If the police, a court or another authority asks for a copy, Rodaku can provide it to that authority: a person at Rodaku who is signed in with a second check opens the photos, must note a reference, and each time a copy is opened it is logged. Rodaku gives any copy to that authority, not to the shop, and cannot delete a copy once the authority has it. A photo a shop takes on its own phone is outside Rodaku.
